Since my previous blog discussed President Trump’s need to be humble, I thought I should balance it with some true stories about his kindness toward others. These stories do not come from TikTok and other unreliable social media; they are verifiable and true.

"A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight." (Proverbs 11:1)

Malcolm Gladwell has often written about the subtle forces that shape our lives—the tipping points, the outliers, the unseen patterns.

When we think about Donald Trump, the image that often comes to mind is one shaped by relentless media coverage: the brash billionaire, the uncouth and vulgar reality TV star, and the pompous, arrogant, polarizing political figure.

Yet, beneath that surface lies a quieter narrative rarely mentioned—one that reveals a pattern of unexpected generosity. These stories don't often make front-page news, but they resonate deeply with those who lived them.

The Farmer's Lifeline: Annabel Hill

In 1986, Annabel Hill faced a personal and financial crisis. Her husband had taken his own life, driven to despair by the looming foreclosure of their Georgia farm. Her story, a poignant reflection of rural hardship, reached Trump. He intervened. Trump provided financial aid and leveraged his influence to halt the foreclosure, ultimately saving Hill's farm. This story has been widely verified and remains one of the clearest examples of his benevolence.

The Child on Life Support: Andrew Ten

Three-year-old Andrew Ten's rare illness required him to travel from Los Angeles to New York for medical care. The complexity of his condition meant that commercial airlines refused to accommodate him. Upon learning of this, Trump offered his private jet, ensuring the child received the needed treatment. This account, reported at the time by news outlets, is also corroborated by those involved.

A Lawsuit Against Racism: Palm Beach

The 1990s Palm Beach social scene was exclusive in more ways than one. Many clubs quietly maintained discriminatory policies against Jewish and Black members. Trump, ever the disruptor, filed a lawsuit against the city, challenging these practices at his Mar-a-Lago resort. The specifics are complex, and some argue his motivations were as much about business as they were about justice. Yet, his actions undeniably spotlighted the town's uncomfortable status quo. Abraham Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League acknowledged that Trump's move had a ripple effect, prompting other clubs to reconsider their policies.

A Pageant Queen's Gratitude: Melissa Consin Young

Melissa Consin Young, a former Miss Wisconsin USA, found herself battling an incurable illness years after her time in the pageant spotlight. During her darkest moments, she received a handwritten note from Trump, calling her "the bravest woman I know." She credits the opportunities she received from Trump and his organization with helping her son secure a full-ride college scholarship. This account comes from Young herself, and her emotional public statements lend authenticity to her experience.

These stories form a pattern—small, intimate moments where Trump stepped in to help—well documented and from personal testimony.  What emerges here is not simply the portrait of a man but a reminder that human character is often revealed in the quiet acts that don't demand applause.

Why write such a blog? Because political polarization has crippled people’s ability to be honest and fair with those who hold opposing views.

President Trump can do no evil for some, and for others, he can do no good. It seems as if every position in every event is decided by party identity. What happened to free thinkers? Has everyone become an automaton? Is everyone afraid that if they don't disagree, every Democrat will disown them, or if they don't agree, every Republican will?

An environment has emerged where acknowledging the merits of an opposing idea is rare, and critiquing one’s own side is risky. This reluctance to call out wrongs or praise good ideas fosters dishonesty, deepens distrust, and obstructs meaningful progress.

“Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice, or the Lord will see and disapprove and turn his wrath away from them.” (Proverbs 24:17-18)
